The ThorpyFx Fat General offers a thick optical compression circuit inspired by the rare OTC-201 compressor pedal. In fact, Thorpy and the Lovetone designer, Dan Coggins, have teamed up to deliver a versatile new take on this transparent design. Blend mode behaves like a studio, parallel compressor with the Balance control commanding the mix of the two signals in phase. Juicy mode has a set 90% mix of compressor to add sustain and punch to any guitar, while adding just enough dry signal to maintain your guitar’s character and attack. The Treble control can either be set for a vintage, pillow-y sound or bright and jangly for really standing out in a mix. Like all ThorpyFx, the Fat General is loaded with top notch components like a burr-brown op-amp, WIMA and Panasonic caps and a unique, laser etched enclosure.
