The festive season is here, and with it comes a song inspired by real-life experiences of three Londoners Jas Kayser, Conor Albert, and Quinn Oulton. Together these musicians have written a heartfelt track based on the idea that as the year comes to a close, we all come together to reflect on the moments that make life special.
"When we started writing, we were trying to approach it not in the traditional sense of a Christmas song. We all resonated with the idea of people living away from the place they grew up, but on that one day of the year, everyone comes back to the same place at the same time. The people may have changed, but the place remains the same."
Lyrics:
Here we are
I feel young again
It’s been a year to the day
You hair was longer then
Why don’t I get your first drink
I probably owe you 10
Nothing has changed
We’re still the same
Let’s leave the bar
And go find the rest
Still sitting in the same seats
I’d expect nothing less
Jen had her first kid
Sam bought a place in west
So much has changed
But we’re still the same
There’s no other reason
We change with the seasons
There’s no other reason
We change with the seasons
You bought a new car
Well I failed my test
And I fell in love again
Your love lives taking a rest
There’s a hundred and one different ways
Our lives found to separate
But it goes without saying
Our past will remain
There’s no other reason
We change with the seasons
There’s no other reason
We change with the seasons
