We wanted to expand on the Catalinbread Galileo demo and show how it reacts to British-voiced amplifiers. After quite a few questions about how Catalinbread's AC-30 inspired pedal reacts to similar voiced amps, we jumped back in the recording booth. This demo shows the Galileo running into a Dr. Z Maz 18 Jr. NR, 2x12. The handwired amp certainly takes the British route with a pair of EL84 output tubes, tube rectifier and power amp High Cut. The Vox-ey overdrive from the Catalinbread Galileo not only gels with Dr. Z's clean platform, but produces classic results when the Top Boost pushes dirty amp settings. The independent Top boost channel in the Galileo is a fine-tuned version of the Catalinbread Naga Viper and can be stacked with overdrive or used in classic treble booster fashion. Treble boosters have roots in the 60's with the purpose of boosting an already driven tube amp. Rolled low-end tightens up saturated tones and neck pickups while sparkling highs and singing midrange push your guitar through the mix. Check out how the Top Boost alone adds a vocal lead tone to the Dr. Z's rhythm crunch.
