Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today, we’re seeing double with the Doubleland Special. The Doubleland Special combines two Overrated Special circuits side by side, with some innovate switching options at your feet. The original Overrated Special was designed for Joe Bonamassa with the intent on delivering D-style humble tones without the hefty weight or price tag. There is a ton of versatility to be found within the four controls, and the Doubleland Special lets you take advantage by giving you a fully-customizable two-channel Overrated Special. The second footswitch gives you a side swap effect, so you can set both channels completely differently and then switch between them when the time is right. The central toggle switch gets your amp sizzling, by activating both circuits in series. In this mode, Side A cascades into Side B, letting you use Side B’s Volume control as a master volume, while Side A’s control turns into a saturation knob for singing sustain or heavy overdrive. Each side of the Doubleland Special offers up the same control set but in either knob or slider formats. Joe Bonamassa likes to used the slider side for single coils while the left side is mainly for his Les Pauls. The magical 500Hz knob/slider lets you dial that particular band in and out of the mix for some throaty overdrive tones that work with either pickup. The Way Huge Doubleland Special also celebrates Way Huge's 25th Anniversary and contains a pick tin with Way Huge and Joe's own Jazz III picks plus each of the 1000 units made are signed by the man himself and manufactured right here in the states.
