"I've come to really enjoy the high activity level of alternating bass mixed with aggression. Using the boom chick bass techniques with my style of composition and phrasing has produced some fun and challenging songs to play. For this one, I wanted to incorporate some interesting polyrhythms, syncopation, and modern melodies with the traditional style. It's definitely one of the more physically challenging songs I have and it takes a good amount of right hand conditioning to keep up with it.
The main theme of 'Shaman' is about having a sense that something big is about to happen in the near future. There's a sense of frenzy when one gets this type of warning because we're both trying to tactfully position yourself for said even while trying to be selfless enough to warn others, giving those in the dark the benefit of such knowledge. I believe ignorance is the biggest obstacle we face in this life. And while I believe truth is singular, I also know we all see the same truth through different sets of eyes. So by communicating well and coming closer to a common ground as a whole, we're slowly, but surely, building a better world."
