In this video, I'll do a bit of work on my Crate V16 Palomino. Released in the early 2000s, this amp holds a special place in my heart for its unique blend of chiming cleans and gainy response, sort of reminding me of the classic Vox amps, but with a tighter bottom end.
But even the best of gear can face the test of time. That's exactly what happened with my V16 – the potentiometers started crackling, a common issue that many of us face. Rather than letting it sit and collect dust, I decided to roll up my sleeves and give this amp a tune-up.
In this video, I'll take you through the process of disassembling the amp, cleaning the pots with deoxit, and carefully reassembling everything back together. I'll also share my personal connection with this amp, its history, and why restoring it means more to me than just fixing a piece of equipment. It's about preserving a piece of musical history that is a bit nostalgic to me personally;
Remember to always prioritize safety when working on electrical equipment. Stay tuned for more videos where we explore, repair, and celebrate the world of guitar gear.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE:
High Voltage Electronics Hazard Warning
Attention: Working with high voltage electronics, such as tube amplifiers and similar equipment, poses significant risks and can be extremely dangerous. These devices often contain or operate under high voltages that can cause severe injury or be potentially fatal.
Please be aware that capacitors and other components in such electronics can store lethal voltages, even when the device is switched off and disconnected from the power source. This stored energy can unexpectedly discharge and cause a dangerous shock.
Unless you are professionally trained and experienced in electrical engineering, specifically with high voltage circuits, it is strongly advised against attempting to repair, modify, or otherwise tamper with high voltage electronics.
If you encounter issues with any high voltage electronic equipment, it is imperative to consult with a qualified and experienced technician. Professionals possess the necessary expertise, experience, and specialized tools to safely conduct repairs and maintenance.
Your safety is of utmost importance. Do not risk injury or worse by engaging in activities that require professional skills and knowledge in high voltage electronics. Please prioritize your well-being and seek professional assistance when needed.
