I was able to setup my POD HD500 with the 4 cable method through my amp - a Frenzel Deluxe Plus. It allows the dirt boxes to go in front and the delays/reverbs to go into the power amp. You can also select if you want to use the amp's preamp or the HD500 preamp models. It is crazy versatile and sounds fantastic.
