Victory V4 The Duchess Guitar Amp is a whole new approach to guitar amps for us, pairing an all-valve V4 Series Pedal Preamp with a 180-watt class D power section, plus reverb and tremolo.
The result is an incredibly compact, lightweight and powerful guitar amplifier that can run with or without a speaker load. Stick it on top of your favourite cab and/or plug it direct to your cab sim of choice for awesome direct tones.
The all-valve front end (containing four valves!) takes pedals superbly, plus there is a 9V power outlet for a small selection of low-current pedals, should you want to stick it on your pedalboard.
It weights just 1.7kg / 3.75lbs!
For this video we did a genuine blind reveal and first-impressions chat with Chris Buck (Buck & Evans) and Phil Short (currently touring with Westlife). The guys had no prior information on V4 The Duchess Guitar Amp, so what unfolds is exactly what happened, with some helpful question-answering from Mick Taylor (That Pedal Show).
The guitars used are a Fender Highway 1 Stratocaster with Chris's signature Radioshop pickups; Ibanez AZ2204 Prestige, Yamaha Revstar RS720B, 1961 Fender Stratocaster and Gibson Memphis 1958 ES-335.
Where cabs are mic'd, you're hearing a Sontronics Delta 2 ribbon mic on the speakers, plus stereo room mics.
In the 'recording/direct' section you are hearing the direct signal, no mics at all.
Wherever there are pedals used, on-screen graphics will tell you what they are – V4 The Duchess Guitar Amp is awesome with pedals!
Big thanks to Chris, Phil & Mick for their help with this video!
