If you keep your pedals around long enough, odds are that you've had this problem. You reach down to turn a knob and hear a lot of noise, or the signal may cut out completely. Here's a quick and easy way to fix it generally. It also works on switches.
Be warned though - you don't want to do this too often as it can wear down the insides of a pot if used too often.
