The Sunless FX Cold Lands is a preamp pedal that has been inspired by the Matamp GT120, an amplifier well known for Stoner and Doom music.
Just like the GT120, the Cold Lands is not only a Doom machine, with the right settings it can cover a wide range of tones, from classic rock to metal.
The depth knob allows you to change the characteristics of the saturation, turn it clockwise for a tighter tone and counter-clockwise for something more loose and fat.
The Cold Lands contains a boost converter to convert the 9v input voltage to 33v internally, which allows a smoother gain, higher headroom and also allows the Cold Lands to be loud enough to drive a power amplifier.
While it is meant to be plugged straight into the fx return of a power amplifier, you can plug it in the input of your amplifier, the tone will then be affected by your amplifierโs preamp and EQ.
