This week I'm answering a question from Vlog #12 I believe, from Sam Wittsell. Sam was asking what a compressor does to the sound, and wasn't too familiar with them. I thought I would create a video to help him and those not familiar with compressors become more familiar. That helps to decide the answer to "Do I need a compressor?". The answer to that is yes, yes you do. And I'd highly recommend the (Insert commercial radio announcer voice) *Wampler Ego Compressor from Wampler Pedals* . And where can one find this compressor you ask? Well right here: http://wamplerpedals.com/product/ego-compressor/ (back to regular voice now).
So to those reading this info section, ask away with questions and comments. Those questions and comments help me make more videos. I enjoy making videos for you. Hopefully you enjoy these videos (or vidgets ). Also, it would mean alot to me if you shared this video with those who might enjoy it. You can also email me directly at brian@wamplerpedals.com
Gear used in this video is a Whitfill telecaster with David Allen pickups ( http://www.dallenpickups.com/ ), a Wampler Ego Compressor, a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp (running into a 2x12 cabinet with WGS Green Beret Speakers, and mic'd with a couple of MXL ribbon mics. Why MXL and not a Royer? I really need to get one. I just haven't gotten around to it. I have a bunch of MXL mics though and since Youtube mangles the audio anyway it's hard to tell the difference from a royer to a Wal-mart microphone after youtube compresses the crap out of it. Plus, let's be honest, you're probably listening to these videos on a phone which is a itty bitty tiny speaker, or earbuds which aren't known to be too hi-fi. I digress.
Alright, I'm off to the beach. Laterz.
