Next at ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com we're arming the Three Stage Rocket, from Lunastone. The Three Stage Rocket was designed in collaboration with Danish guitarist Soren Andersen to give him the sound he had been hearing in his head for years. The Three Stage Rocket is based on Lunastone's Big Fella platform, and features a slew of extra features that make it a great all-in-one dirt solution for the discerning tone chaser. The drive side of the Rocket is set up to cover all gain-based needs, from light, chimy and transparent to thick and chewy and everything in between. Unlike most dirt pedals, the Rocket relies on cascading gain stages rather than clipping diodes to generate a warm, tube-like tone in the same way amps do. The expansive Rocket gives you a footswitch to toggle between OD1 and OD2 settings, along with individual Gain knobs for each setting, which gives you a dual-channel drive effect. OD1 sits on the lighter end of the spectrum, it's very touch-sensitive with crunch only when you want it. OD2 is the thicker of the two voices, with the same touch sensitivity that begins where OD1 left off. The Rocket features an independently-switchable 15-decibel clean boost circuit that begins at unity gain and sounds good enough to leave on all the time. A handy pre-post switch places the Boost circuit where you want it, either before or after the overdrive. Try feeding the boost into the drive for ultra-saturated amp-like crunch or set the boost after and slam your amp with a lethal dose of gain.
