When the lights went out on live music in March 2020, artists and creators alike were faced with a vitally important question: what now? Unable to tour and play for fans, livestreaming became commonplace during the pandemic, with many creators finding new ways to engage with their fans online. Among them were hip-hop pioneers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, who formed a partnership for their groundbreaking “Verzuz” series on Instagram Live – a one-of-a-kind homage to battle rapping and DJing that pitted A-list stars such as T-Pain, Erykah Badu, and Lil Jon against each other to highlight their discographies and sonically explore their legacies.
When confronted with overwhelming sound issues, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz turned to a partnership with Roland to find a clearer solution towards studio-quality performance. The results were game-changing – as Verzuz was launched into the stratosphere. Now with crystal clear quality audio using Roland tools such as GO:MIXER PRO, GO:LIVECAST, and our best-in-class Pro A/V line, livestreams were seamlessly executed with top-quality audio and video. The story of the partnership involved some key players, notably musical director Joel Manduke, music director Eugene “Man-Man” Roberts, and producer Kerry Brown.
Roland is proud to be featured on “Viewpoint” hosted by actor Dennis Quaid, which gears up with content providers to showcase the roles of companies striving to better impact their communities and help those in need of innovative solutions.
