Billy Corgan approached us after having purchased a Laney LA100SM Head together with a Laney LA412 Cabinet and reached out to us for more of as he calls it, “that God like power”. He loves the Laney LA412 so much that all 4 of his various amps sounds all come out through that Cab.
In this exclusive interview shot backstage before their show at the Toyota Center in Houston, Billy covers the topics of his beginnings as a musician, his love of Tony Iommi & Black Sabbath, we get to meet some fans & go along to the triumphant return for The Smashing Pumpkins to The Metro in their hometown of Chicago and see some footage from their October 2022 dates in both Dallas & Houston, Texas.
More on his equipment: Billy is now touring with two Laney LA100SM Laney Supermod heads. Based on the LA100BL made famous by Tony Iommi having used them on the first 3 Black Sabbath albums, the LA100SM “Supermod” features the addition of a Master Volume which was not on the original LA100BL. The LA100SM was a limited release product which Billy had purchased for himself on the used market and luckily for all of us, we just happened to have the pair archived which have now become a main stayer in his incredible touring rig. In addition Billy also has two of Laney LA412 cabinets which he has fallen in love so much so that he has pushed aside the same cabinets he had been using since the early 90’s.
