Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport. Today we're taking a long look at the all-new Fuzzrite, a collaboration between Catalinbread and the Moseley family that produced the original. After contacting the family of the original designed of the Fuzzrite, Catalinbread obtained several new-old-stock units and used them to produce the quintessential '60s fuzz. Because the original transistors were produced for Mosrite, Catalinbread called up one of the original creators, Ed Sanner for his insight into these elusive parts. Mr. Sanner had the lowdown on the transistor measurements and suggested two old-stock devices to use as replacements. After inserting these parts, the entire circuit had to be overhauled using similar vintage-correct parts, and the result is the most accurate Fuzzrite pedal on the market. The tone of the Fuzzrite is pure '60s snarling fuzz, with a distinct tonal palette that sounds like the dawn of surf music. Just like the original, the new Fuzzrite has a Depth control that cycles between thin AM radio tones all the way through blown-out torn-speaker fuzz tones that gives your tone a distinct flavor no matter how many pedals you're running. Best of all, the Fuzzrite cleans up exceptionally well like any good '60s-tyle fuzz, so players that demand versatility will find a wealth of fuzz tones. And just like all Catalinbread pedals, each Fuzzrite is hand-made right here in Portland, Oregon USA.
