Supercritical gave us an update to their anticipated *The Red Shift* poly synth. This synth, which gained attention at Superbooth, features six analog voices encased in a desktop format. Borrowing technology from their Eurorack DCO and filter modules, it offers a unique blend of analog sound with digital control, allowing up to 16 oscillators per voice. Supercritical highlighted that these oscillators can be used independently, offering immense flexibility for sound design, such as stacking for unisons or creating SuperSaw tones.
The filter design is custom OTA-based with real-time topology switching capabilities, exploring iconic sounds reminiscent of classic synths like the MS-20 and Roland styles. Equipped with four envelopes and LFOs per voice, The Red Shift is versatile and accommodates polyphonic aftertouch and MPE. Slated for release next month, it’s priced at around £1099.
