From the UK, Gordon Smith have been producing guitars for local and overseas customers since the mid 70s, when they were pretty tight with the punk rock scene. They've kept at it and have recently reinvented themselves, for want of a better term, offering among many other models, this guitar, their Grandé Launch Edition. At the time of writing, The Grandé LE. comes in four beautiful colours, two with stainless steel frets and two with Evo Gold frets. This is the Merlot (clearly!) and it sports gold Gotoh 510 hardware as well as the Evo Gold frets. The Partingtone Pickups are clear and crisp with moderate output and I imagine the coil split on the production models would be a welcome addition also (this one is a prototype apparently and is missing the split facility). This is a top-tier piece of British guitar goodness and I'm going to enjoy using it in the Youtube room and on stage. Gordon Smith also do custom stuff so I think I may have to explore that option as well somewhere down the track. Snazzy stuff. Highly recommended.
