http://mojotoneamps.com/ Welcome back to ToneReport and ProGuitarShop.com. Next, we're checking out the Deacon, from Mojotone Amps. The Deacon is a powerful 50w head that utilizes two sweet-sounding KT66 tubes, a rugged valve that stays tight when pushed and offers some of the smoothest high-headroom clean tones in the business. Luckily, players can enjoy the best of both worlds via the Deacon's dual independent footswitchable channels. Channel 1 gives players a no frills volume and tone and a well rounded clean tone that barely breaks up when cranked, a perfect pedal platform. Channel 2, accessed via a push-pull volume or footswitch provides enough gain for the KT66s to feast, giving off some sweet, singing overdrive tones at bedroom levels or on the stage with 50 watts of punch and clarity. Each channel's circuit is so expertly EQ'd that leaving any tone knobs at noon is often the best option, regardless of playing style or guitar choice. The Deacon is also equipped with a footswitchable series effects loop, which places pedals in between the 12aX7-equipped preamp and the power amp, and features a Return Level control for mixing the loop in just right. If KT66s aren't your speed, the Deacon also accepts 6L6s, with no professional help needed. The Mojotone companion 1x12 is loaded with a warm Celestion Creamback and not only shares the same appearance as the Deacon but smartly links up with the head to change its channel status LED from blue to red. Perhaps best of all, each and every Mojotone product is hand-wired right here in USA using high quality transformers, carbon comp resistors and Mojotone Dijon capacitors for vintage tone.
