In this video I test some cheap boost converters to see if they can be used with a USB battery or charger to power the Line 6 HX Stomp.
I demonstrate circumstances when using these could be a very expensive mistake and explain some of the basic principles of how boost converting works.
Then we check with a fully supported USB power converter, the Mission 529HC, and show how to use this to power the HX Stomp safely and reliably from a battery or USB charger.
The Mission 529HC is officially supported by both Mission Engineering and Line 6 for use with the HX Stomp. Support information is available at https://line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/mission-engineering-529-hc-power-supply-compatibility-r917/
The Mission 529HC is available at https://missionengineering.com/shop-2/products/power/529-hc/
