Welcome back to Friends Pick Friday, and today we have Nick Ward in the shop! A Seattle local, Nick is probably best known for his guitar and mandolin work with Hey Marseilles, but his talents go far beyond that. He loves to work in the studio, and has quite the ear for unique sounds with different pieces of gear, often shining light on a tone that others may very well pass up, but turning it into something not only useful, but beautiful. Nick has a Jazzmaster-style Riggio guitar, so when it came to picking out instruments today it makes total sense that he would gravitate toward a Fano Alt De Facto JM6 with its funky custom-order relic finish and excellent P90 pickups. To take the sound in a different direction, and to add a factory Bigbsy vibrato, he also picked a beautiful 2005 Gretsch G6196TCG Country Club! Our amp today is a fantastic new 5-watt Swart Space Tone Atomic Jr head and cab, which may look fairly simple on the outside, but has everything it needs to deliver excellent wide-ranging tones and reach out to the stars with its luscious spring reverb.
