My step dad and I volunteered for disaster relief efforts in Dawson Springs, Kentucky after the unprecedented historic tornado. Mayfield has gotten the bulk of media attention but the damage path is over 200 miles long. This was our experience driving in to volunteer and what we witnessed in the Dawson Springs Elementary School where donations were being accepted. All of this was from people all over the region. We didn’t see federal or FEMA personnel all day. This was all local and regional people pulling together and it was inspiring to witness. God bless the people of Dawson Springs.
