The Hot Mod V2 has been developed by Legendary Tones to increase the gain in any older type amp like a Marshall JMP or similar guitar amplifier. I review this powerful unit right here - check it out.

This Hot Mod V2 unit is designed to bump up the preamp of any lower output preamp like a Marshall JMP, which I will demonstrate in this video. I don't complete an inside and out review, but apart from inside the unit you will see all you need to know. This is a USA made device and of similar design to a unit made by Mike Soldano a number of years ago. I can confirm the quality of this thing is great.
I cover the good and less good points of any unit like this tube preamp booster has, for example, how to handle the incredible increase in gain and volume. The Hot Mod V two booster is simple to fit (anyone can do it!) and uses tubes or valves throughout to maintain the highest tube amp tones possible. This is a hand made device with excellent support from the makers.
Absolutely worth looking at and if you want to know more then simply visit https://legendarytones.com and David the guy running it can help you with any questions. He was a great help to me when I had a problem and that's one reason for liking Legendary Tones as a company... they stand by their products and nice to see in these times.
This equipment was purchased by me personally at retail pricing so I could determine the quality, service and support of the company without feeling 'obliged' to create a 'good' review. Find out how this company and product fared! I think they did well.
I used an Audio Technica microphone with a vintage Marshall cab. The microphone was an ATM250DE which is a dual mic - dynamic and ribbon style combined... it has the unique feature of being completely in phase all the time. I panned left and right each input.
I also used the WAZA TAE reactive load box system from Roland set up on pre-set 9. The Marshall JMP 100 1959 hand wired amp - volume at about 50% and the two 'channels' were linked in the usual way. I used a Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Spotlight guitar for the example tones. Tones on the video are without the boost and then with the boost engaged. Let me know what you think and whether the gain is what you might have expected.
Visit http://www.tonymckenzie.com for other non YouTube reviews of fine guitars, amps and other guitar related gear, and of course my YouTube channel with at least 300+ reviews online right now! I buy all of the equipment and my reviews are not sponsored by third parties so you get a review that will always 'tell it the way it is' about all reviewed equipment.
