Today, we’re melting faces with the Filaments Distortion, by Keeley Electronics. The Filaments was engineered to be the final word in the word of high gain tones, encompassing all forms of hard rock and metal while extending its versatility to all genres. The key to truly high-gain distortion is a high-powered amp, and the Filaments was designed to replicate just that. Players of all types of amps can benefit from the power of the Filaments, from high-end tube amps to solid-state practice combos. Boasting a crazy amount of control for a pedal its size, the Filaments delivers three different levels of gain with an extensive EQ section. With some careful dialing, you can use this abundance of gain structuring to craft searing old school metal riffs or drop the tuning and get your djent on. The Presence and Bright controls adapt the Filaments to any guitar-and-pickup combination you might have, while the Bass and Body controls give you enough low end enter the Tomb of the Mutilated, or dial it out for some Maiden leads. If the generous Gain control doesn't offer up enough, there is a Crunch toggle that adds some extra distortion, and then a separate Boost toggle to scorch your amp's front end. After everything is dialed in just right, use the Treble control to add the right amount of high end back in. The Filaments has more than enough output on tap, enough to drive even the most immovable amp straight into the red.
