In this Lesson we will once again BreakDown some more Licks and Concepts from the ridiculously talented Tom Quayle. After more then a year of doing several Lessons on Tom Quayle and his amazing Legato Technique we are back at it ... and in this Lesson Series we will take a look at a section of an Improvised Solo by Tom that mixes in everything in an extremely tasteful way.
The section of this Guitar Solo that we BreakDown begins with a nice Melodic Minor Scale run. If you are not familiar with Melodic Minor this Series of Lessons will be a nice Introduction for you to begin to understand it's sounds and uses. We will then take a look at the some of the chords that he is using in this Freeform Improvised Solo and talk a little about how they are constructed and some of their functionality.
We then get into another crazy smooth Legato Lick where Tom incorporates his usual combination of Scale Runs and Arpeggios. After years of refining his Legato Technique ... this phrase sounds smoother then it ever has. Tom has become such a mature player over the years ... between his Tone, Melodic Choices, Harmonic understanding, use of Dynamics and Terrifying Technique ... he truly is becoming an extremely well rounded player.
As always we will walk you through note for note everything that Tom is playing with some tips thrown in along the way. And then at the end we will take some time to talk a little about the concepts being used and point out some ways that you can begin to explore for yourself.
We hope you get a lot out of this Free Guitar Lesson And stick around, we will continue to bring you more Guitar Lessons based on Tom Quayle and his superb playing. As always feel free to send us your requests.
