At Bristronica 24, we caught up with @silkie86 (Silkie) at the Bitwig stand with Bitwig Studio and his personal production workflow. Having initially explored Bitwig during version 1, it was the modulation system and eventual introduction of the grid in version 3 that made Silky a dedicated user. The grid played a pivotal role in his dubstep and garage productions, allowing him extensive control over drum templates.
Silkie demonstrated how he organized various samplers within the grid to house 127 samples each, and explained his banking system to manage more extensive collections. Highlighting intricate control features, he showed us how parameters like pitch, note length, and playhead position can be personalized. Additionally, the integration of distortion circuits and pre/post filtering catered to his custom processing chain needs. He also touched on Bitwig's clip launcher for sequencing, reminiscent of other DAWs yet offering unique drag-and-drop features that enhance workflow flexibility.
