Dan Veall unveils a brand new column In this month’s edition of Guitar Interactive Magazine, taking a more in-depth look at the controls of your bass amplifier.
Isn’t it a great time to be a Bass Player? In this age of technology we have so much choice; gear that can create any such tonal character or soundscape that our heart desires.
Indeed, once again Tech 21 has provided us with the VT Bass 200 amp that I demonstrated in my last column (as well as completing a full review), So let's dive a little deeper, shall we?
Today’s column is really part 2 of last month’s. You will recall that I spoke of the clever way that Tech 21 has given us a ‘Speaker Emulated’ output on the back of the combo which allows us to send a “mic’d up cabinet” tone to our recording device or PA yet we could actually not have any sound coming from the VT Bass combo’s own speaker! Silent recording!
That connection configuration alone on modern amplification kind of negates the rest of this column. A slight irony that the VTBass doesn’t actually really need micing up as it’s speaker emulation, as you will hear in my amplifier review, is really good.
