Blur "Stereotypes" guitar lesson. The next Riff of the Day uses a very short delay from the Boss DD-3 and a little filth from the Retro-Sonic Distortion. The main riff shows Graham Coxon's excellent sense of timing, leaving pockets open in the rhythm to contribute to this song's mechanical feel. A few crucial chords in Stereotypes are the first B7 which adds the D on top, a shape used a lot by Hendrix in Stone Free, for example. After 3 descending chords (G#m, G, F#) Coxon does a pulloff of the B string to give it a cool jangly sound that interacts with the comb filter sound of the short delay (approx 50ms). Finally the tension builds during the last progression and to embellish this, a C#sus4 is used. Enjoy your Riff of the Day guitar lesson!
