Acoustic guitar pickups explained! If you've been wondering the differences between each type of acoustic guitar pickup, this video should help to clear that up. Meg takes a look at the 3 main types of acoustic guitar pickups; Soundhole, Piezo and microphone.
When it comes to acoustic guitars, you may think all things unplugged and natural but over the last 50 decades the need for pickups has grown and grown and in turn pickups have evolved. From the early birth of magnetic sound hole pickups by the early Gibson employees Lloyd Loar and Harry D'Armond all the way to the modern day blended pickup systems featuring both piezo and microphones. Pickups have come a long way and we wanted to take a dive into that evolution.
If you are taking your guitar out on the road then how it sounds plugged in is going to be just as important as the natural unplugged acoustic sound. Each pickup has its own pros and cons, and throughout this video Megs diving into where and why you might use each type of pickup.
