Award-Session's designer, Stewart Ward, shows off his gigging amp that he has designed to make classic 'on-the-edge' blues tones. And it's 100% solid state and entirely analogue. Not a tube or computer processor in sight!!
The RetroTone's overall size is about that of a Fender '57 Deluxe and it's tone is certainly in that camp too, except it does not distort so readilly on the bass notes like the Deluxe does. This gives it a much more sophisticated transition from clean to distortion. There is plenty of overdrive for blues players, although this is not intended as a 'rock' amp as such. Think 'Little Charlie and The Nightcats' when you hear this baby! Real 'old school' tones!
Stewart's been designing SS amps since 1979 and valve amps since 1967. He's also a working musician and tests all his designs at gigs and jams!
