You just heard the Catalinbread Talisman, a pedal that captures the distinctive ambience of an EMT140 plate reverb, a unit that was a cornerstone of classic rock recordings from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Stones, Van Halen, and many, many more. Modeled after the sound of a real EMT140 owned by Portland's own legendary Jackpot! Studios, the Talisman squeezes the lush reverberations of the EMT's 7-foot long vibrating metal plate into a compact stompbox. In addition to the sound of the plate itself, the Talisman also gives you access to two tone-shaping tools commonly used in conjunction with a plate 'verb in studios; a high-pass filter to tame low frequency resonances, and a pre-delay control for putting up to 100 milliseconds of delay time between the picked note and the reverb. This is great for enhancing overall clarity, or dialing in a bit of slapback at the max setting. The Talisman also includes controls for Mix, Time, and Volume, and it operates from 9 to 18 volts for increased headroom and easy pedalboard integration. Like all Catalinbread pedals, the Talisman is hand-built in Portland, Oregon.
