Inspired by over a decade of electric guitar string research, Ernie Ball has incorporated the principles and insights that contributed to the development of Cobalt and M-Steel Slinky, resulting in new material-based innovation for pickups. This all-new patent-pending HT (Heat Treated) pickup technology brings with it a new series of HT-equipped instruments, including a Cutlass HT, StingRay HT, and a Sabre HT.
HT (Heat Treated) pickups are able to achieve an ultra-high-output, powerful low-end response while retaining a distinctively clean, clear tone and definition at lower volume levels. These pickups utilize heat-treated pole pieces with a large ceramic magnet and an overwound coil that gives each pickup higher frequency harmonics and excellent touch sensitivity. The Cutlass HT and StringRay HT are available in Showtime, Brûlée, Midnight Rider, and Raspberry Burst. The Sabre HT is available in Yucatan Blue, Raspberry Burst, Showtime, and Snowy Night.
