Everyone knows that the Funkzilla is funky - it's right there in the name, after all - but sometimes the full scope of its versatility is overlooked. In this video Jamie Wolfert explores the decidedly non-funky 'Zilla side of this mighty envelope filter, using it to enhance clean baritone guitar arpeggios, providing texture, mood, and movement in a post-rock context. The Funkzilla also teams up with the Imperial fuzz and Electroman delay (this time operating in envelope mode) for some haunting Jazzmaster-powered melody lines. Sandwiched between thick, Muff-style fuzz and echo, the 'Zilla generates cocked-wah / volume swell sounds that seem to sustain forever as they float off into the ether.
