Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com, today we’re digging into the Reverb by Empress Effects. The word “Reverb” is the only word that does this pedal justice, because the Reverb contains 24 studio quality, stereo reverb algorithms. The modes range from classic Spring, Hall and Plate to more esoteric types such as Ghost and Beer modes. The Reverb is equipped with two knobs labeled Thing 1 and Thing 2, which adjust unique parameters within each mode. The global controls transcend many other reverbs by offering a two-band EQ circuit which applies only to the reverb tails, a handy mix control as well as an output control for some gentle push. While the Reverb sounds great right out of the box, users can access an Advanced Configuration mode which lets players control everything from the input padding and bypass operation to cabinet simulation and an ability to lock the knobs for live use. The Reverb also offers 35 presets, accessible via a scrolling function as well as an external control jack which can accept anything from CV and expression pedals to MIDI and external tap tempo. And like all Empress pedals, the Reverb is exactingly engineered in Canada.
