The PAF humbucker pickups are original though the bridge pickup is missing its cover. This guitar comes with its original Lifton hard shell case. Serial # A 32378.
The fully hollow body is 17" wide with a highly resonant solid carved spruce top and carved maple back and sides. The dual F holes are are single bound. The top and back feature multi layer binding. The 3 piece maple neck features a bound ebony fretboard with large block inlays. Other fine features on this guitar include a multi-bound blackface headstock with flowerpot inlay, trapeze tailpiece, rosewood based no wire ABR-1 bridge, 3 way switch and a multi-bound tortoise pickguard. This guitar also features gold hardware and Kluson tuners.
OVERALL CONDITION
This 1960 Gibson L-5CES is in good condition. This guitar plays and sounds very well. The top does have a repair as noted earlier that shows some cracking and overspray. There is a crack around the input jack. The general wear on this guitar falls in the light to moderate category. There is some finish checking here and there, a few light cracks, some smaller dings and a few cracks to the binding which shows some typical shrinking. The replaced frets are in very good to excellent condition showing only minimal wear.
This is a phenomenal vintage jazz guitar. It plays and sounds wonderful and these older L5's just keep going up in price. This is a fine guitar to add to your collection and enjoy regularly.
