The Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsys Fuzz is based on a mysterious Fuzz Face Distortion that Jimi Hendrix used at several iconic shows between 1969 and 1970, most notably the Band of Gypsys performance. Red with white knobs, this particular fuzz sounded like a completely different animal from any of the other Fuzz Face pedals in his arsenal, snarling with an aggressive, biting tone. The pedal itself has been lost to history, but its unmistakably unique sound lives on in recordings. Our engineers narrowed the sound down to a version of the Octavio® circuit that didn't have that pedal’s famous octave-up effect.

The thick wash of Uni-Vibe® Chorus/Vibrato that permeates the landmark Band of Gypsys™ album is undeniably some of the most transcendent tone ever recorded. With that pedal’s chorusy, Leslie-sounding goodness, Jimi Hendrix was able to summon startlingly rich textures that sound as if you can actually spoon them out of the speakers. This pedal delivers those classic tones in all of their stunning analog glory at a fraction of the size of the vintage Shin-ei unit that Hendrix used from 1969 to 1970.

The Jimi Hendrix ’69 Psych Series Octavio Fuzz updates the circuitry of the original cheese wedge Octavio Fuzz for modern players and pedalboards. In its default mode, this pedal snarls with super aggressive silicon saturation. Pushing the Octave switch kicks in the classic octave up fuzz sound so potently demonstrated on tracks such as “One Rainy Wish” and “Purple Haze.” Both modes deliver a range touch-sensitive fuzz tones that will inspire you to venture into uncharted sonic territory just as the incomparable Jimi Hendrix did when he used the Octavio Fuzz to make history.

The Jimi Hendrix ’69 Psych Series Fuzz Face Distortion captures two different flavors of Jimi Hendrix fuzz tones in a single mini housing with all the appointments today’s players demand. In its default mode, this pedal discharges the aggressive silicon-based crunch that that Jimi Hendrix used in the latter part of his career. Hitting the SI/GE switch engages the warm, smooth saturation of germanium-based fuzz that he used in the early years. This pedal also uses buffered bypassing by default, allowing for a greater range of tones and full cooperation with wah pedals such as the Jimi Hendrix Cry Baby Wah. The tonal purists out there will be happy to know that a Buffer switch allows for true bypass switching.
**Please note : this pedal is a legacy product and no longer in active production
The soundtrack of this video made with all four pedals.
