The SolidGoldFX Athena is a Phaser that covers subtle, mesmerizing coloration, pitch altering vibrato and classic asymmetrical Uni-Vibe style sounds in a compact box. Appropriately, Athena (half-sister of Apollo) uses half of the Apollo Phaser's 4 stages to produce a thick and chewy Vibra-Phase tone. Speed and Depth are standard while the Output Level provides an extra boost to make up for any perceived loss in certain settings. The Mode switch provides different wet-dry blends: left is a 50/50 blend while wobbly vibrato is accessible in the center at 80/20. The Color toggle also allows you to fine tune the frequencies and throb of this phaser. Left is a balanced phase tone, Middle accentuates the oblong waveform and dives right into Uni-Vibe territory, while the Right setting only affects the bass and treble frequencies, a nice subtle choice for bass or any instrument that needs more complexity. Plus, the Athena’s speed range can be controlled via expression pedal for maximum exploration or you can select the right mode and manually control the phaser’s sweep. Like all SolidGoldFX, the Athena Vibra-Phase is a high quality design built by hand in Montreal Canada.
