Today, we're taking a ride in the Il Diavolo, from MXR. The MXR crew joined forces with Carlo Sorasio of Italy'`s LAA Custom to develop a creamy overdrive that's rich with harmonic content. The Il Diavolo was designed from the ground up to provide a refreshing midrange character with a super tight low end that appeals to lead and rhythm players alike. The Drive control's range is exceptionally wide, giving you a glassy low-gain tone at one end and a devilishly grimy crunch at the other. The Hi-Lo switch is extremely interactive with the Drive control, as delivers either asymmetrical silicon clipping (LOW) or symmetrical LED clipping (HI). These two carefully-curated clipping sections along with the center position that omits diodes help carve your sound into new shapes, with the Drive knob riding shotgun. The Il Diavolo also stacks well with your existing dirt arsenal, imparting its character onto each pedal before or after without taking over your tone. Players using it as the only drive pedal in the stable will have no problem pushing even the most stubborn amps into overdrive, because the Il Diavolo contains so much gain and output volume. And just like all MXR pedals, the Il Diavolo is designed and manufactured right here in the States.
