A lot of the music I write and record for THE DRILLS is obviously influenced by my heroes. Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Black Sabbath... etc. Sometimes it's WAY obvious and other times it's disguised enough to not give it away. In the case of Rock'N'Roll You All Night Long off of Stupid Good Lookings Vol 1, there's no hiding my homage to the KING, Edward Van Halen. Not only to the KING but the whole band. They were ON FIRE! I was fortunate to see the band 4 times from 1980 to 1984, the first time being when I was 14. That changed my life. The biggest lesson was realizing that not only was Eddie incredible but having the time of his life and running around like a maniac while playing his ridiculously wicked parts with his uncanny rhythm. It was to be an inventive guitar player with my own style. So this is not only a tip of the hat to VH1, it showcases MY licks. ...and shows how you can take a cool lick from a hero and make it your own.
