In this part five: I show you exactly how good the figured maple pick guard is as sold by Gilroy guitars (https://www.gilroyguitars.com ) - and they seem incredibly high quality. On my Warmoth body this looks great.
I take this scratch plate and show you exactly how it arrives and what to expect if you get one. I bought this pick guard and this video is entirely un-sponsored by the way.
It is my personal opinion that when you buy a pick guard that's basically hand made from Peter Gilroy that you are buying something special. Over the years I have bought so many pick guards but only two are of this quality - and this is one of them! Oh the other? Yes, I bought that from Gilroy guitars too.
This is a 2.7mm thin pick guard which is great so that it feels right on the Stratocaster. Any Strat would do well with one of these and they do make 8 and 11 hole versions.
Coming up in the near future is the sealing of the body and neck and then the finishing of the two.
Other components used in the series include: This Gilroy guitars scratch plate, an ABM tremolo unit (separate review), a Fender Clapton boost circuit and its installation, Fender 69 custom shop pickups and one or two other surprises along the way.
This video series is entirely unsponsored and I purchased every single part just as you would have. These are my personal opinions only. I sincerely hope that this series of videos really will inspire you too to have a go at creating a guitar that could literally last you a lifetime... and even get passed down generations to come... yes really! I have spent considerable time creating these video series at my expense:
