The Big Joe R-403 is a vintage style overdrive from the company's "Raw" series. The R-403 sounds like a vintage tube amp turned all the way up delivering fat and smooth tube dynamics and bark. The harder you dig in, the more the R-403 responds and brings out the bite in it's tone. With the R-403, there is plenty of gain on tap but it's magic is really in its transparency and response to pick attack and dynamics. Big Joe Stombox Company also put a 2-way toggle to engage a low boost to emulate a closed mic amp. You can run the R-403 Vintage at either 9 volts or 18 volts for added headroom.
