Our inspiration for the octave was drawn from the Pearl Octaver pedal. This is a vintage '80s pedal, which sells for $250+ in the used market.
The Octa Section is a synthesizer emulator. The Octave, Fuzz and Filter are simplified versions of their full-fledged counterparts that work in tandem with each other, which is otherwise complicated and challenging when dealing with individual pedals.
For the working bassist, we chose what we thought was the most desirable --and most useful-- elements of these effects. There is, however, a learning curve of understanding how they interact with each other (as well as with the other sections) and how you can blend them to find your own personal sweet spot.
