A mini version of my Fallstaff OD, a treble booster derivative with an added input stage and a color knob that adds in some diode clipping and cuts highs (to keep them from slicing your ears off at higher boost settings). I built this one to sound a little darker to match up with some brighter gear. Check out my web site (jonpattonmusic dot com) for a perfboard layout and build guide (with all the possible mods) if you want to build your own, or I can make you one if you ask super nicely.
Some notes about the parts:
The germanium transistor in this one is an RCA 2Nxxxx (unmarked but sounds great!) with HFE of 50 (which would have been way too low for a regular rangemaster). The input stage transistor is an RCA 2N2369, also a metal can. I got a couple from Luciferstrip on DIYStompboxes and prefered the sound, even though the input stage was originally designed around a FET.
The Ge diodes are 1N270 and 1N192.
Gear used:
Don Quixotecaster w/ Reilander Vintage Strat pickups
Tone King Imperial V3, T6, B4, R3.
