Porter Pickups Hybrid Plus Single Coils

The Hybrid Plus set really thickens up the inherent thinness of a typical low-output Strat pickup arrangement with a best of both worlds approach. The bobbin and magnet set comes straight out of Porter's Vintage Custom blueprint, mashed up with Porter's Modern coil structure. In this Hybrid set, the neck pickup is wound to bridge specs, and the bridge pickup is wound as many times as Porter's P90s, for a much hotter profile that pushes far past normal Strat pickup output. The resulting tone is thick yet clean, and sits superbly in any mix, a boon for those that play in bands with more than one guitarist, especially if the other guitarist plays a guitar equipped with humbuckers. Porter's Hybrid set is among pickup royalty in the blues and surf rock genres, due to its tight attack and propensity to play nice with the guitar's internal controls and its tight attack without any flubbiness. This attack helps the set adequately push a hot amp or pedals when the player digs in, as well as sparkling cleans with the intensity dialed back.
