Today at ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com, we're digging into the AT, from JHS. Designed in conjunction with Andy Timmons, the was created as an overhaul of the Angry Charlie circuit but better suited for the man's rig. Lovers of cranked British amp tones should look no further, because the AT delivers them in spades. The AT gives players the choice between three different virtual amp wattages, voiced to sound as if running through a 4x12 cabinet. This is achieved via the three-position toggle switch, labeled Headroom. The middle position is 100-watt mode, which is clean, even and unapologetically loud. The down position is 50-watt mode, giving the best combination of output volume and available gain on tap, perfect for those seeking the sounds of a redlined JCM800. The "up" position is 25-watt mode, offering the lowest volume but with the most mids enhancement and pure gain, perfect for players needing lots of drive at bedroom levels. The tone section of the AT is extremely well-defined and features two low-pass filters, with one centered on the entire frequency range of the input, and the other centered on only the high frequencies. These two EQ and Air controls allow you to precisely match the AT to your existing amp and guitar, for a complex gain sounds that only adds from your gear's natural tone without taking anything away. And just like all JHS pedals, the AT is made by real human beings in the USA.
