Roland's RE-201 Space Echo and CE-1 Chorus Ensemble are still coveted today for their beautiful modulation effects and sometimes quirky hidden charms. One of the charms that they both have are their respective preamps and the subtly unique sound that each of them imparts. Boss realise that people are attracted to these preamps - some even purchase the respective units just for the preamps - so they've bottled them up and now we can all access them in the Boss Waza Craft BP-1w Preamp / Booster. If the flavours of those two old-school preamps aren't exactly right for you, there's a third 'natural' option that doesn't colour the tone as dramatically. Volume-wise, there's plenty of extra dB's on tap, enough to frighten the front-end of any amp, but you can up the ante by dialling in a little or a lot of Gain, which will give each preamp a little grit verging on low-gain overdrive. Every amp and guitar combo will react slightly differently and that's where the qualities of the BP-1w really shine. If you're looking for a super high-quality three-pronged boost, you should give the BP-1w a shot. I'm impressed ... and louder!
