​You just heard the Banning Guitars "Betty Mae", loaded with a custom wound set of Porter Pickups 9T's. This guitar was hand-built by Lodi, California luthier Jason Banning, and as the name implies, its unique feature set combines the best qualities of the classic T-style and offset guitar into one very distinctive instrument. Like every Banning guitar, this custom build is constructed one at a time and this one starts with a hand selected alder body and maple neck finished in a delicious, dark-roasted nitrocellulose lacquer. The "Betty Mae" blue finish on top goes after the lovey blue pansy, and this artful treatment is available in other colors too.
The meaty, resonant tones come in part from its Porter 9T Pickups, a custom wound set that feature a fat-sounding P90 design in a standard-sized T-style housing. Like P90's, these pickups feature dual-bar magnets and screw poles, and have a thick, raunchy tone that combines clarity, girth, and grind in equal measure. The 9T's offer a unique look as well, with the neck position pickup having an open "Raw Nickel" cover.
