In this clip I compare 7 Marshall Cabinets using the same 1977 Marshall JMP 2204 Amp and 2008 Gibson Les Paul 1959 Reissue R9. All cabinets are miced using two BeyerDynamic M160 Ribbon Microphones. One room mic at 12 feet from the amp at 4 feet height pointing right at the amp and one close mic pointing basically at the center of the dust cone almost touching the grill cloth. Small adjustments regarding position and angle were made to get the most out of each cab though. All 12 inch speaker cabinets in the test are equipped with the same elements, see specs below. All Speakers are Celestions.
