All about matching power amplifier tubes, pre-amp tube selection, biasing and a JTM45 hand wired amp inside and out closeup review from Tony Mckenzie.
How to: Biasing a Marshall 1959HW amplifier, and talking about tube matching with examples, offering preamp tube advice and a look at a JTM45 Marshall style amp close up. This 2nd video in the series shows the use of a 'Bias Master' biasing meter in use on a Marshall 1959 hand wired amp as well as the basics of biasing without a 'Bias Master' using just a regular meter. I also discuss tubes in general - power and pre-amp and offer some advice. Lastly the JTM45 I made in 2009 with a novel idea of how to stop those amps from humming.

In this video I explain the importance of tube matching of the tubes in this 1959HW hand wired amplifier and also show how different tubes can be way out of being matched even from new. I show how to 'bias' different tubes in this guitar amplifier with both a 'Bias Master' and by using a regular meter, but I intentionally don't show every last step with a regular meter for safety.
I then discuss pre-amp tubes and why they are important and how you can generally improve over the tubes that are currently being used in the amp. I show examples of the pre-amp tubes and why I chose particular brands and the reasoning why I chose that brand (Tung-Sol).
I also show an JTM45 hand wired amplifier that I built back in 2009 and cased in 2010. Included is a modification that can considerably reduce the hum from almost any similarly made amplifier easily - an amp modification that really does work.
This is Part 2 in the series of Marshall tube amplifiers for guitarists and the contents are not meant to be particularly technical, and I might even have a few mistakes or errors in the content. However, the creation of the whole series does show in great detail the reasons and advantages of owning iconic tube amps from Marshall.
In other parts of the series I include other model Marshall amps such as the newe Studio JCM800 STEALTH version that's released presently. I also cover the aspect of tube or valve amplifier accessories like volume attenuation or load boxes. I trust you like the whole series.
