Today, we're using the the MXR Carbon Copy Bright to play some classic U2 songs. The Carbon Copy Bright continues to impress us over here at PGS. Its clearer repeats lend themselves extremely well to songs in which note articulation is as important as the notes being played. Designed as a companion piece to the original, the Carbon Copy Bright ventures into areas where few analog delays fear to tread. The brightness inherent in the circuit gives notes a little extra articulation in the middle of fast runs. When set for a dotted-eighth arrangement, the Carbon Copy Bright excels at keeping the repeats present but unmistakibly analog. With this in mind, the Carbon Copy Bright makes an excellent second delay when the situation calls for some clarity during a solo or evocative passage. Because the repeats are more percussive than the original Carbon Copy, the Carbon Copy Bright hits hard when used in conjunction with your favorite dirt pedal.
