Welcome back to Friends Pick Friday, and today we have Bradley Laina in the shop! Some of you may know of Bradley from his excellent alt-folk/Americana group Vaudeville Etiquette, though he's a solo and studio artist as well! He's a great person to spend time with, has a good ear for unique tones and is just generally a tasteful player and all around musician.
We walked the shop a bit and settled on a trio of sunburst guitars that are all very, very different from one another! Starting with the senior of the bunch, a 1960 Fender Custom Esquire - a real rock machine with its one and only single-coil bridge pickup, with a refined and classy look thanks to the custom sunburst finish and lovely binding around the body! Moving into 1967, the lovely Gibson ES-330TD we recently featured with James Anaya, anyone that puts their hands on this guitar just can't get enough of it! Then, our more modern pick, a reissue D'Angelico New Yorker NYL-2 for some nice clean jazzy sounds. All of this amped by a beautiful pre-owned Swart Super Space Tone head and cab, and a few pedals to mix it up a bit - a Skreddy Echo, Skreddy Screwdriver, and the ever-useful Z.Vex Box of Rock!
